LADY GAGA EMBRACES CHAOS IN HER LATEST VISUALS

Lady Gaga

‘It’s never been easy for me to deal with how I let myself be seduced by chaos and agitation. It makes me feel claustrophobic.’ - Lady Gaga

Yesterday, October 29th, Lady Gaga introduced us to her new era, accompanied by an innovative vision of the conflict between calm and chaos and the seduction of darkness over temperance. With a narrative music video unlike anything we've seen from her before (yet still feeling so familiar), we're immersed in her new aesthetic, and a question arises: What does Lady Gaga propose with the new visuals for her single "Disease"?

As we know, Gaga's styling team has remained unchanged for many years, with Sarah Tanno as her makeup artist and her makeup brand, Haus Laboratories, as her primary tool. While in the past we haven't always been 100% sure about Tanno's work, I must admit that in "Disease," she took Gaga's visuals to a new level.

With a theme centered around the attraction to darkness, Gaga's team highlighted her edgy side with bleached eyebrows and a graphic superimposed eyebrow that we're sure will become a trend. It accentuates the emotionality in the artist's gaze and gestures.

The makeup seems consumed by chaos: we can see flashes of light applied with glitter shadow on the eyelid in all her makeup looks, which, when fused with the light, makes her eyes even more hypnotic. If that's not enough, they elongate the face with an exaggerated cat-eye and a smoky black blend, giving it the appearance of an oily, dark hole.

The visual and artistic proposal can be seen in the facial makeup, as Tanno draws lines that seem to be veins, highlighting the madness of "Disease" with lower lashes covered in mascara reminiscent of films like "A Clockwork Orange". In the sequence where Gaga tortures herself, she opts for a simple, effective glossy makeup that plays perfectly with the iridescent reflections of the montage's light.

There's no doubt that we've entered a dark, edgy, and fashionable era where chaos and the confrontation of our dark thoughts come to light through makeup. Gaga has welcomed us to this stage with a "Happy Halloween," and we can expect to see many of Mother Monster's fans recreating these trends at their parties this weekend. Welcome back, Lady Gaga!
